Karabo Moletsane is a Gold Craft Loerie award winning Illustrator and designer based in Pretoria. She is passionate about the preservation of the African aesthetic, and founded a creative agency called Mother Tongue – Creative House. She is moved by South Africa’s zest, culture and innovation. Karabo grew up in Vereeniging and settled in Pretoria in 2011 when she studied Visual Communication at The Open Window Institute.


Karabo is the creative gem in her family since her father is a financial adviser, her mother a teacher and all her siblings working either in IT or Economics. She is inspired by fashion, city sub-cultures, hand painted signage, urban entrepreneurs and everything that makes African countries visually rich and innovative. Her creativity is sparked by walking through the culturally rich streets of the Pretoria and Johannesburg city centres.


She has a strong appreciation for tradition and heritage and values the importance of education. She strives towards continuously learning new things and she believes it is very important for individuals to remain open to education and learning.


Karabo enjoys going to dinner with friends, visiting interesting countries, playing the guitar and attending exhibitions. She has recently become passionate about food and diverse flavours and enjoys visiting markets, coffee shops and new restaurants.
